一、概念：用一个句子修饰名词或代词，这个句子就叫做定语从句，定语从句放在它所修饰的名词或代词后面，它所修饰的词叫先行词，先行词与定语从句之间用关系代词或副词连接(或叫引导词)。
二、连接词：who, which, that(初中只要求掌握这三个，that既可指人也可指物，可替代who,which), whose, when, where, why
三、例句：1 Do you know the boy who is standing under the tree?你认识正站在树下的那个男孩吗？
              2 Do you know the girl whose name is Liang Wenyin?你认识那个名叫梁文音的女孩吗？
          3 This is the book which I bought yesterday.这是我昨天买的书。
        4 Do you like the cards which/that I sent you?你喜欢我送给你的这些卡片吗？
四、who/whom, whose 引导的定语从句讲解。
    先行词是人时，用who, whom,whose引导，区别是：定语从句缺主语或宾语，就用who或whom,如上面例1；如果不缺主、宾语，但主语缺定语，就用whose,如上面例2；whose除指人也可指物，如：Can you see the house whose windows are green?你能看到窗户是绿色的房子吗？
五、which, when, where, why引导的定语从句讲解。
  当先行词不是人，而是物时，用which,when,where,why 引导，区别是：如果定语从句缺主语或宾语用which.如：1 The coat which was bought by my mother is red.(缺主语)我妈妈买的这件外套是红色的。
    2 This is the film which you want to see.(缺宾语)这是你想看的电影。
    定语从句如果主语宾语不缺，缺状语：先行词表时间用when；先行词表地点用where；先行词表原因用why.如：1 I never forget the day when I came here.我永不忘记我来这里的那天。2 This is the school where I have taught for two years.这是我教了2年书的学校。3 This is the reason why I was late for school.这是我上学迟到的原因。

    再次强调：先行词是表地点的名词，如果在定语从句中作主语或宾语(也可以说定语从句缺主语宾语)时，用关系代词which/that，作状语(也可以说定语从句缺状语)时用关系副词where。如：

  The factory which/that was built in 1990 has closed.1990年建立的那家工厂关闭了。(缺主语)

  The factory where his grandfather worked has closed.他爷爷工作过的工厂关闭了。(缺状语)
     最后试比较：1 Chenzhou is a beautiful place which people look forward to visiting.(定语从句缺宾语)
                             2 Chenzhou is a beautiful place where people look forward to travelling.(定语从句缺状语)郴州是人们向往的一个漂亮的地方。
六、关系代词只能用that的情况。
   注意：先行词前有修饰，不能用which,只能用that.
    如：This is the best film that I have seen.这是我看过的最好的电影。
七、巩固练习。
 （一） 用who,which填空，注意其中6空填where,一空特殊。
1 The boy  ____ is wearing a green jacket is my brother.
2 The man ____ talked to you is a policeman.
3 I hate people ____ talk much but do little.
4 The book ____ my uncle bought for me is very interesting.
5 The house ____ we live in is very beautiful.
6 She likes music ____ is quiet and gentle.
7 We visited a factory ____ makes toys for children.
8 Istill remember the park ____ we first met.
9 I've never forgotten the city ____ I spent my childhood.
10 Is this the place ____ your grandmother once lived?
11 They built many schools ____ children can study happily.
12 This is the school ____ my mother works.
13 He was the first person ____ passed the exam.

14 This is the factory ____ you visited the other day.

15 This is the factory ____ I worked five years ago.

1 她是你想见的那个女孩。She is ____ ____ ____ you want to see.
